The CYOP Road Trip: It's Over, but Not Really

If all goes as planned, I'll be home this afternoon. Home.

Home. Home. Home.

It's hard to believe this dream of a trip is coming to a close and, to be honest, I still have so much to process. Contrary to my earlier hopes, I don't necessarily feel as though this trip was a retreat—at least not in the traditional sense.

Long drives in the car were filled with phone calls (hands free, of course) to loved ones, swirling to-do lists waiting to be voice memo'd for later and a whole lot of paying attention to my surroundings. My time stopped among the many cities I visited was mostly full of interviews and attempts to explore as much as possible.

However, I do feel as though this adventure has changed me in some ways. Ways in which I still need to suss out—ways in which I may not be fully aware of just yet.

The CYOP Road Trip has been good. So good. The people I've met along the way have been encouraging and gracious and kind. I can't even begin to express my gratitude to everyone who welcomed me into their homes and studios and set aside some time to chat with me—for our collective benefit. How cool is that?!

Like I said, I still have so much to process—mentally, physically and digitally (I'm looking at you, giant audio files)—and I'll be taking some time to do just that as soon as I walk in my front door, snuggle with my pups and give my husband a huge hug (Seriously—he's held down the fort for six weeks. I think he deserves a medal!).

I'll be getting a little quieter on social media over the next several days as I settle back in to my normal routine. Not to worry, though: I'm still lining up podcast episodes and sorting through photos of adventures I can't wait to share in greater detail.

Thanks for following along, my friends. Your encouragement and support has truly made this trip both possible and worthwhile. That said, it's going to be mighty nice going home.

Home. Home. Home.

Has a nice ring to it, yes?
