So we're not entirely sure, but we think our pup Hank likes the snow. We had a chance to head up the hill to Eldorado National Forest last weekend for an afternoon of snowshoeing. Hank had never experienced snow before, but he had THE BEST TIME jumping and frolicking around.

And now I know what I want for Christmas – more days like this:

Looking for a fun and easy snowshoe adventure near the Sacramento Valley? I highly recommend the area around Union Valley Reservoir, just off of Highway 50. It's officially Hank-approved!

If any dog owners out there are wondering about Hank's paws, he was completely fine! The booties we bought him before the trek turned out to be the wrong size (the dog has enormous paws) and luckily, he didn't end up needing them. I think we'll still snag him a set for future outings, though. You never know when conditions might turn him into a tender-footed pup.

Anyone have dog-friendly (preferably snow-covered) trails to recommend? I'm pretty sure we'll be bringing Hank along with us from here on out!
