CYOP Listener Survey 2015

When I launched the Creating Your Own Path podcast, I started small. Very small. I learned by doing, became a slightly better host and found an amazing community of listeners. Next month, we'll wrap up an incredible second season and I have YOU to thank for this year's success.

Even though I've still got a handful of really great interviews to share in 2015, I'm already planning for next year. That's where you come in!

I've put together a listener survey in an effort to not only get to know you a bit better, but to also give you an opportunity to steer the direction the show takes in the future.

As a token of my appreciation, I'm offering up a chance for 3 people to win a 2016 wall calendar with photos from this year's #CYOProadtrip adventures!

[Update: This survey is now closed and winners of the giveaway have been contacted. Thank you for taking the time to offer up your feedback!]

Podcast Listener Survey

For the last several months I've gone about the business of lining up interviews for the Creating Your Own Path podcast. I've been reaching out to my creative friends, acquaintances and people I've admired for years and it's been incredible to receive feedback and hear that many of you love listening. It absolutely warms my heart to know that by taking the time to investigate and share stories, I've been able to create content you feel is worthwhile.

So, what does is take to create content twice each month? More than you'd think:

  • I spend time culling my list of creative people and coordinating interviews.
  • I research my guests' career path and write a script for each show to keep the conversation on point (read: to keep me from rambling).
  • I interview the guests, which can take anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours depending on the interviewee(s).
  • I spend time editing and uploading the audio so it's ready to go to iTunes and other apps.
  • I write content, fact check and source photos/graphics for the corresponding blog post for each interview.
  • I publish the podcast and blog post and share it as much as I can.

As you can see, the show takes quite some time to create and I really want to make sure I'm building something that you enjoy and want to continue participating in on a regular basis. We're all busy little souls and I know your time is valuable, so I want to know what you'd like to hear on the show.

If you have just a few moments, I'd love to get your feedback. I have nothing to offer you in return, except the promise of my continued commitment to quality content—yet somehow I think you, the listeners of this show, understand the value of that commitment.

You can complete the quick, painless survey here.

Thank you in advance for your input and continued support, my friends!

Flowers + Matisse + Happy Links

"There are always flowers for those who want to see them." // Henri Matisse

Happy Links:

  • Doesn't this post make you want to set up shop (and a life) in Iceland. {sigh}
  • I'm loving this new series over on the Twin Stripe Blog. I've already put my vote in for tomatoes. Summer growing season here we come!
  • After coming across this super cool sticky tape, I can't stop thinking about all the ways I'd use it. I'm in love with the London skyline, myself. What about you?

Wrap it Up:

  • On Tuesday, I excitedly launched the redesigned this space, along with a spiffy new portfolio site. It's amazing what a change can do to get you moving in the right direction!
  • I finally had the chance to interview the founders of one of my favorite Sacramento publications, Submerge Magazine. You can find the full feature here
  • As I decide what this space should become in the coming months, I've asked you lovely readers to help in my spring cleaning efforts with a survey. I love feedback.

  • If you read People + Places + Things in a reader, be sure to hop out and see the redesigned site!
  • Many of you used to subscribe using WordPress (my old platform), but I haven't figured out a way to take you with me over to the new platform. If you'd like to re-subscribe, you can use the FeedBurner form in the sidebar on the right of the screen.
  • If you haven't had a chance to take my super quick and painless survey, you can do so right here. I would really appreciate your feedback as I move forward with this space.

Happy weekend, my friends!

Spring Cleaning: A Survey

Exciting, I know.  :)

As promised, I am back with a very painless survey and I'm hoping you can spare a few minutes.

You can find the survey here.

You see, I've come to a point with this blog where I need to decide: keep it as a hobby or fold it into part of my business. In my pursuit of creative entrepreneurship, my ultimate measure of success is making a living doing what I love.

Newsflash: I love this blog! I thoroughly enjoy receiving feedback from each of you wonderful people who read what I write here. Sharing my passions with you is the best!

And yet, the bottom line is... well... the bottom line.  I currently spend many, many hours creating content in this space and I wouldn't have it any other way. However, it would be nice to create a few revenue streams to help compensate for that time.

So, I'd love to hear your thoughts. The survey is short and should only take a few minutes of your time.

I really appreciate your help!

Please Excuse the Dust...

... and the lack of posts within the next week or so.

This blog and my business model are both officially under construction and I'll be focused on getting it right. Therefore, blog posts may need to take a back seat. I'll still be working on delivering great content -- don't worry -- I just need a short break to work on all the "behind the scenes" stuff.

What can you expect when I return? Well, I hope to offer:

  • More relevant, engaging content
  • A blog that helps (even in a teeny tiny way) to financially support my adventurous family
  • An easy to navigate blog format
  • A request for feedback from all of you wonderful readers
  • The bells and whistles (yay!) that go along with switching blogging platforms

Items of note:

  • If you currently follow this blog on WordPress, I suggest subscribing via Bloglovin' or Feedly.
  • Many of you have signed up to have posts emailed to you. I'll be working to transition that over as well, so stay tuned.
  • For the most part, you shouldn't notice much "construction dust." That said, if you see anything strange feel free to let me know in the comment section!

As always, I have to thank you all for your continued readership. For those of you who are fairly new to the blog: welcome! I promise to do my best to make every post worth your time.

Catch you on the flip side, my friends!
